Obituary for Donald E. Bowman

Donald E. Bowman, 85, of Middletown entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at M.S. Hershey Medical.
He was born May 28, 1932 in Middletown and was the loving son of the late Lester Y. and Martha (Barrick) Bowman.
Donald was an Army veteran and served during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Middletown.
Donald retired as Vice President of Bastian Homes and continued to work part time there after his retirement. He was the former President of the Athletic Association in Lower Swatara for 20 years and was one of the people responsible for getting the ball fields built for the children. He was a former Lower Swatara Twp. Manager as well.
Donald loved playing cards and golfing. His greatest joy was going to all of his children's and grandchildren's sporting events. He coached some of his children's teams and other teams in the past years and will be missed by many of his former ballplayers.
In addition to his parents Donald was preceded in death by a son, Chris Bowman; brothers, Paul Bowman and Michael Bowman.
Donald is survived by his wife of 36 years, Dorothy (Rider) Bowman; daughters, Robin G. Bowman of Middletown , Suzanne M Nikont and husband Mark of Germany; step-daughters, Tami L. Overcash of Hershey, Michele A. Weisenford and husband Kevin of Middletown; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, George S. Bowman; sisters, Marie Gould, Sylvia J. Derr and his faithful companion Domino.
There will be a tribute to Donald's life on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 7:00 PM at Matinchek Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. 260 East Main St. Middletown, PA 17057 with the Chaplain Mark Nikont officiating. There will be a viewing from 5:00 PM until the hour of service on Thursday.
Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Donald's name to Wesley United Methodist Church, 64 Ann St. Middletown, PA 17057.
